The Conaty Catering Supplies Story...
It all began back in 1970 when Tom Conaty started supplying Pubs in Dublin & Cavan with Cleaning Products & Glassware. He was joined thereafter by his brother Jim and Conaty Brothers was created. Initially operating from a garage in Drumcondra they moved to Maypark on the Malahide Road in Dublin 5. The inventory consisted of glassware, cleaning products & Bar Supplies. Quite a contrast from today, when we have a nationwide presence, soon to have an online store, and approximately 8000 stock items.
What led to this phenomenal growth?
The Brothers (Tom & Jim) saw an opportunity to provide an unparalleled service to the catering trade. They chose to have the products that customer needed the most often in stock and competitively priced.
In the 1980’s Tom decided to focus on the Catering Sector with Conatys while Jim established Barcorand with the focus of supplying janitorial supplies to the Wholesale and Cleaning trade.
In 1991 Tom opened his second Catering Supplies Business in Navan known as TAC Cash & Carry. Again the simple philosophy of having the excellent service and the right products proved a hit with the customers in the North Leinster and South Ulster regions.
In 2002 due to the phenomenon growth in business and the huge inventory that was required to maintain the high service to its customers, now across the complete catering Industry, Conaty Catering Supplies was formed with its Distribution and Inventory centre moving from Malahide Road to Rosemount Business Park in Blanchardstown.
Today there are only a few suppliers (mainly foreign owned) to the industry. They are only focused on selling the “most profitable” and not the “right products” to the customer.
Conaty Catering Supplies growth continues due to the same philosophy that existed back in 1970. The philosophy is “having the right products to meet the customer needs at competitive prices with unparalleled service at the time the customer requires ”.

The future of Conaty Catering Supplies looks promising indeed.
Tom is now enjoying maintaining his low handicap on the Golf Course, his sons Aidan & Cathal have taken over the running of the family Business, don’t forget that their mum Lily can be seen around the branches making sure that every thing is kept to the highest standards possible.
The brothers have been raised with Toms customer focused philosophy and will continue to grow and work with all customers in the catering industry.
